UK Visa Free Hike: But First, You'll Have To Know About New Fee Structure

If you are the one who is applying for a UK Visa, you have to be ready for a change in the fine print. This process of altering will start in October, and visa fees across categories are expected to increase by at least 15% or more, depending on the type of visa. The final parliamentary legislation comes after an announcement was made in July by Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak.

Back in July, the UK government announced a 15% increase in the cost of most work and visas which increase of at least 20% in the cost of priority and study visas. As per the new visa fee structure will come into effect from 4 October, the cost for a visit visa for less than six months will rise from £100 to £115 (Rs10,300 to Rs11,8,50), while the fee for a student visa for those who applying from outside the UK that will increase from Rs37, 420 to Rs50.500, all subject to parliamentary approval. Back in July, the UK government announced a 15% increase in the cost of most work and visit visas and an increase of at least 20% in the cost of priority and study visas. As per the new visa fee structure which will come into effect from 4 October, the cost for a visit visa for less than six months will rise from £100 to £115 (Rs10,300 to Rs11,8,50), while the fee for a student visa for those applying from outside the UK will rise from £363 to £490 (Rs37,420 to Rs50,500), all subject to parliamentary approval. Visit visas will rise by 15% as you can see given below:
  • For up to six months: from £100 to £115 (Rs10,300 to Rs11,850)

  • Up to two years: from £376 to £771 (Rs38,760 to Rs79,480)

  • Up to five years: from £670 to £963 (Rs69,075 to Rs99,280)

  • Up to 10 years: from £837 to £1,000 (Rs82,290 to Rs1,03,000)

The cost changes will apply to the following:
  • Visit visa for up to six months, two, five and 10 years.'

  • The majority of fees for entry clearance and certain applications for leave to remain in the UK including for those who work and study.

  • Fees for more leave to enter and to remain.

  • Convention travel document and stateless person's travel document.

  • Health and care visa.

  • Fees in link to certificates of sponsorship and confirmation of acceptance for studies.

  • The in-and-out-of-country fee for the super-priority service and the out-of-country fee for the priority service. The settlement priority service will be reduced so it is aligned with the cost of using the priority service.

  • Applications to register and naturalise as a British Citizen.
