As the summer holiday season approaches, it's important to be aware of the latest visa rules for smooth and hassle-free travel. Here are four key visa updates to keep in mind for 2024:

Top Visa Changes for Indian Travelers in 2024: Your Essential Guide

1. Japan introduces eVisas for Indian travellers:

Starting in April, Japan will be offering eVisa applications for Indian travellers. The process is managed by Japan Visa Application Centers operated by VFS Global. The eVisa is designed for short-term tourism and allows for stays of up to 90 days. Both Indian citizens and foreign nationals residing in India are eligible to apply. Upon approval, the visa will be issued electronically, and travellers must present a visa issuance notice on their mobile device at the airport.

2. Romania and Bulgaria can now issue Schengen visas:

Romania and Bulgaria have partially joined the Schengen Area, allowing them to issue Schengen visas to foreign travellers. This means that Indian travellers can now use their Schengen visa to visit all 29 countries in the Schengen area. However, visas issued before April 1 by these two countries won't grant access to the entire Schengen area.

3. Dubai’s five-year, multiple-entry tourist visa:

Dubai has introduced a new visa program tailored to Indian travellers, offering a five-year, multiple-entry option. This visa allows for stays of up to 90 days, with unlimited entries and exits within five years. The application process requires a valid passport, bank statements, health insurance, and round-trip flight tickets.

4. Stricter student visa rules for international students in Australia:

Australia has tightened rules on student visas, including the introduction of a Genuine Student Test and a No Further Stay clause. The No Further Stay clause limits work options for foreign students and prevents them from applying for other visas within Australia without leaving the country first. Additionally, higher English proficiency requirements will be imposed for both immigrant students and graduate visas.

These updates are important to consider when planning travel in 2024 to ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey.
