At the beginning of May, Terminal 1 was expanded and is all set to provide a world-class travel experience. This terminal was recently inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this newly expanded terminal is projected to double accommodate a whopping 40 million passengers annually. The space of the terminal has become larger than before. With 10 baggage reclaim carousels, 20 Automated Tray Retrieval Systems, self-luggage scanners, and 100 check-in counters, this terminal has tripled in size to cover an area of 2,06,950 square metres. And, the baggage handling system capacity has also increased from 3,240 bags per hour to 6,000 bags per hour, making it easier and quicker for you to check -in and collect your luggage.


Take Aerobridges Instead of Buses


Secondly, the renovated Terminal 1 boasts 22 aerobridges, which will make boarding and deboarding much more efficient. You can now access the aircraft directly from the terminal, without having to use bus services on the runway.


Expanded T1 is now DigiYatra-friendly


The DigiYatra service, which was previously only available at Terminal 3, is now available at all entry gates. This service allows passengers to breeze through check-in gates and security so that they can get to their boarding gates faster.


More Convenient


The renovated terminal is much more accessible to passengers with reduced mobility. There are designated zones, special lounges, and special assistance phones to ensure that everyone has a comfortable and hassle-free experience. If you're being dropped off, you can use the inner lane closest to the terminal to be dropped off at Gate 8.
