These new designs are set to revamp plane seats, offering passengers more space, privacy, and comfort across cabin classes. Some of the most exciting new seat designs that airlines are launching through 2024 include:
1. Air New Zealand's SkyNest in economy: Air New Zealand is set to launch the world's first-ever beds in economy class this year. The SkyNest area will feature six lie-flat beds configured in a bunk bed style, available for booking on select ultra-long-haul routes. Passengers can reserve a four-hour time slot for around $400 to $600.
2. Japan Airlines Premium Economy on the new A350-1000: Japan Airlines has debuted an ultra-luxe premium economy seat on board its A350-1000 planes. These seats are the world's first in premium economy to have an automatic recline function, making the process of reclining easier and as seamless as business class.
3. Hawaiian Airlines Business Class Suites on its new Boeing Dreamliner: Hawaiian Airlines is launching its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner with a reimagined business class with 34 lie-flat seats featuring fully closing doors. The Leihōkū Suite will also include wireless charging, an 18-inch entertainment screen, a starlit ceiling, and direct aisle access for every customer.
These new seat designs are set to make flying a much more comfortable and enjoyable experience for passengers.
