Domino's Pizza stores have joined the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC)
in the Delhi-NCR region, which is expected to benefit franchise owner Jubilant FoodWorks
by helping to increase profit margins and de-risk online sales from food gathering together Zomato and Swiggy in the long term.

ONDC is a government-backed e-commerce network that aims to break down the e-commerce value chain into multiple parts, such as the buyer-side app, the gateway, the seller-side app, and logistics providers. The platform allows any app, including e-commerce platforms, banking apps, D2C apps, or cab-hailing apps, to be a buyer-side app" into which the consumer logs in to search and complete a transaction

Domino's Pizza stores are currently visible on PhonePe's Pincode app, but not available on other buyer-side platforms on the network such as Paytm and Ola. The pizza chain has been working on adding ONDC as a sales channel since 2023.
By integrating with ONDC, Domino's Pizza stores can avoid paying charges to intermediaries to show up on the platform, which can help to reduce the cost of transactions.

ONDC aims to provide affordable prices by offering lower commissions on the network, which can be passed on to consumers by sellers such as restaurants, grocery shops, and electronics brands.
Approx 5.5 million transactions were made via ONDC in December, 2.1 million were in the retail category, while 3.4 million were in the mobility category. Food delivery and fashion purchases in the retail segment accounted for a third of the 2.1 million orders, with the remaining transactions spread across newer categories such as cosmetics and electronics.
