Kashmir is on the brink of a weather shift, bringing potential relief from the prolonged dry spell. According to the weather office, the valley is expected to witness light snow and rain by next week, signalling the end of the remaining dry conditions. Until January 24, dry weather will continue with generally cloudy conditions on Saturday evening.

The possibility of light snow in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir on January 25. Starting from January 26-28, there's a likelihood of light rain or snow scattered. Moving into January 29-31, various models indicate a high probability of light to moderate rain/snow in different places.
The ongoing Chilla-i-Kalan" a 40-day intense winter phase characterized by a cold wave, freezing temperatures, and potential snowfall, will conclude on January 31.

Kashmir, experiencing a notably dry winter, encountered a 79% rainfall deficit in December. The absence of precipitation in the initial half of January has contributed to freezing nights and warmer daytime temperatures.
As temperatures dropped in Srinagar city, recording a minimum of minus 4.9 degrees Celsius, and other regions experiencing similar cold spells, the upcoming snowfall is eagerly anticipated to bring a shift in the prevailing weather pattern.
